About Pure Earth

It’s amazing when you look at the rate health problems keep increasing. Just when we find a cure for one disease, a cure for a new disease is needed.

It seems we cannot find cures fast enough.

I believe it’s better to get rid of the cause first and stay as healthy as possible. Let’s face it al least you’ll feel better.

While many people argue that benefits of newly found chemicals there are also concerns about the use of these chemicals.

Are they safe to humans? Have there been tests conducted to see the long term effects on humans?

Sadly in many instances the answer is no.

Allergic reactions continue to rise in people. We meet so many people here who are on the search for products that won’t make them break out in rashes or other discomforts.

We are proud to offer natural products which are safe to use. We are proud to use pure essential oils instead of cheap synthetic fragrances. We are proud not to include any colouring in our products which is only used to try and sell you a product. We are proud to be offering people a safe and healthy solution to everyday personal care.

We are also proud to expose what’s in the products you find on the shelf and also educate people to read and understand label information.

It’s amazing how few people actually know what they are rubbing over their bodies when they use an ordinary bar of soap or what a lady is rubbing over her lips when she uses lipstick.

Our aim here are Pure Earth is to offer you the best in natural and safe to use personal care products. Products that really will make you look and feel great.

And we back it all up with a real guarantee!

So why exactly is SLS so bad?

Here are what tests show about Sodium Lauryl Sulfate:

(1) SLS PENETRATES EYES AND TISSUES. Tests show that SLS can penetrate into the eyes as well as systemic tissues (brain, heart, liver, etc.) and shows long-term retention in those tissues. Especially when used in soaps and shampoos, there is an immediate concern relating to the penetration of SLS into the eyes and other tissues. This is especially important in infants, where considerable growth is occurring, because a much greater uptake occurs by tissues of younger eyes, and SLS changes the amounts of some proteins in cells from eye tissues. Tissues of young eyes may be more susceptible to alterations by SLS [1]

(2) SLS FORMS NITRATES. When SLS is used in shampoos and cleansers containing nitrogen-based ingredients, it can form carcinogenic nitrates that can enter the blood stream in large numbers. They can cause eye irritations, skin rashes, hair loss, scalp scurf similar to dandruff, and allergic reactions. [2]

(3) SLS PRODUCES NITROSAMINES (potent carcinogens that cause the body to absorb nitrates at higher levels than eating nitrate-contaminated food like hot dogs or lunch meat): Dr. David H. Fine, the chemist who uncovered NDELA contamination in cosmetics, estimates that a person would be applying 50 to 100 micrograms of nitrosamine to the skin each time he or she used a nitrosamine-contaminated cosmetic. By comparison, a person consuming sodium nitrate-preserved bacon is exposed to less than one microgram of nitrosamine. [3]

(4) SLS STRIPS MOISTURE AND OIL FRO THE SKIN. According to the Journal of Investigative Dermatology, SLS produced skin and hair damage, including cracking and severe inflammation of the derma-epidermal tissue. Skin layers may separate and inflame due to its protein-denaturing properties. [4]

(5) SLS IRRIATES SCALP AND MAY PROMOTE HAIR LOSS [5]

(6) SLS CAN DAMAGE DNA IN CELLS – according to Japanese studies. [6]

CONCLUSION:
SLS and all its cousins are very harsh detergents that strip the skin’s moisture barrier (which is linked to immunity and skin health) and causes serious health problems during testing on animals. It is linked to harming children’s eyes, denaturing protein (thereby possibly contributing to hair loss or thinning), and combines with DEA, MEA and TEA (often found in the same shampoo) to form nitrosamines, a potent carcinogen. Since it is only included in products because of its potent foaming action, the question you must consider is:
What’s more important: the foam or your health:
You CAN choose healthful alternatives:

What Pure Earth Uses
What Other Brands Use
COLOURS
Pure Earth uses no synthetic colours at all. In fact Pure Earth products contain no colours whatsoever. Most brands use synthetic colours to make them look more attractive. Look out for D&C and FD&C colours. These can be carcinogenic and are used unnecessarily.
FRAGRANCE
Pure Earth use only pure essential oils. Not only do they smell nice, they also have important therapeutic qualities too. When the word ‘fragrance’ is used on an ingredient listing, it is mostly a cheap synthetic chemical mixture to make it smell nice.
Up to 200 chemicals can be used to make up a fragrance.
CLEANSERS
Only natural based, vegetarian and from coconut oil, olive oil or corn oil are used. They are combined with vegetable proteins to increase lather. Detergents which are made from a range of petro-chemicals are most common. Avoid: Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, TEA Lauryl Sulfate and DEA
EMMOLIENTS
Plant based oils and vegetable fatty acids are used to keep products soft and easily absorbed into the skin to nourish the skin and keep it soft and supple. Propylene Glycol, Mineral Oil, Petrolatum are just some emollients used.
Avoid them all.
PRESERVATIVES
Pure Earth use a range of natural extracts like Citrus Seed Extract and Vitamin A, C and E.
Our products are made in smaller batches more often so your product is always fresh.
The most common preservatives used are Methyl and Propyl Parabens, Imidazolidinyl Urea (Germal) amd MDM Hydantoin (Formaldehyde).
Avoid them all.
EMULSIFIERS
An emulsion is the joining of water and oils together. We use only natural plant bashed emulsifiers to combine the water based and oil based ingredients in our products. Propylene Glycol, Triethanolamine and Hydroxymethyl cellulose are common chemical emulsifiers to keep creams from separating.
HAIR CONDITIONERS
We use many herbs, plant based oils and proteins to condition the hair making it feel healthy and manageable. An array of chemicals can be used which are also found in fabric softener to soften hair. It does the job to soften the hair but has no benefit to hair over the long term.
